Between 9.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday, urgent requests will be given prompt attention by the receptionists and the doctors will be informed.

From 6.00pm until 8.30am, Monday to Friday, all day on Saturday and Sunday and on bank holidays, emergency medical services are available through Western Urgent Care.

They now operate from the outpatients department in Altnagelvin Area Hospital. Patients who ring the surgery number outside normal surgery hours will hear a recorded message with the appropriate telephone number.

Depending on the nature of the problem, the duty doctor will be able to give advice.

• Please ensure that an adult makes the phone call, as you may be asked for some details.

• The conversation with the doctor is always recorded.

• Please remember that this service should be reserved for genuine emergencies only and that the doctor on call has to work the following day.

• They do not deal with injuries and trauma, these should be taken to accident and emergencies.
